An Ordinary day turned Blessed!

>> Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Yesterday (Tuesday) was an ordinary day but it turned out so blessed beyond measure.  What a great day!

Madi Grace & Sarah Faith having their first cup of hot chocolate of the season.  A Fun First for this winter!
I devoted the day to God, being a servant and asking for His blessing.  All morning and all day we talked about Jesus!
The girls and I did chores and fun things but we all agreed it was one of the best days ever and I know it's because we spent it talking about how serving someone is the same as serving Jesus.
(Remember the scripture that goes something like, "For what you do for the least of these you do for Me."  (not an exact quote)

We talked about the order in which we should serve:
JOY!  J-Jesus; O-Others; Y-You.

In the spirit of Serving - we all worked together to make lunch.
Here, Sarah Faith is stirring the noddles as she and I made macaroni and cheese.  :)  Mmmm!

......and here, Madi Grace is making each of us a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to go with our mac-n-cheese.

After lunch we worked JOYFULLY on more chores.

We had to carry lil Hannah to serve her most of the day.
As you can see, she is holding her leg.
She spent much of the day before playing a jump game and her sweet little muscles were sore and she was struggling to walk.

After our chores and such, as a treat, we made Gatorade popcicles!
Mmmmmmm!  These ADORABLE Mickey Mouse popcicle maker was from Disney from my precious friend, Tamara at Branches of Wisdom.  She is so loving and good to us!  Thank you Tamara!

At the end of the day I made spaghetti so my husband would come home to an already prepared meal.
It was made with much joy and much LOVE.
Then, we sat as a family at our table and enjoyed our meal.

See, the day was ordinary but because we talked about Jesus all day, it was amazing.  In fact, before I started dinner, we put on some wonderful Christian music (the girls helped choose songs) and we listened and enjoyed it so much.

I praise God for this day and will hold it in my heart as we make other days like this one.  We were all so happy!

Scripture Idea - it's Awesome!!!

I am still reading "Passionate Housewives Desperate for God"
Out of just two pages, I pulled some scriptures and decided to put them up around the house.  I printed them, cut them out and put them on one piece of scrapbook paper.  (cheap!)
Then, I put them in areas where I struggle and need them the most.
One I forgot to take a pic of says, "Pray in "droplets" of the day".
I put it above the washer & dryer.
Some are in my kitchen where I need to learn to serve better and one is even in my bathroom to remind me and help me remember!

Here's what they say & look like:

I added this one where the girls can see when loading and unloading the dishwasher while they are helping clean the kitchen.
It's good for me but good for them too.
They have it memorized but it's good to be reminded!  :)

I know these will be helpful to me and my girls!
I hope it gives you some ideas too!
Please share if it does... or share what you do, please.

I really encourage you to read this book!  It's so amazing!

My Mom visited for my Birthday! -- Amazing time! Full of pics :)

I woke up to my Precious Daughters having a sign on the wall for GiGi and me for our birthdays.  Madi Grace did the "Happy" and Sarah Faith did the "B-Day".  It's still up and I love it!
My Mom came down for my birthday and we had an incredible time as we always do.  We all LOVE when she comes to visit!

This was when she first got here!
She sat down and watched Shrek 2 with the girls!  :)
She is so good to the girls and to me!
I adore her!!!!!!

We went out that night to celebrate our bdays.
Mine was today and hers was in October but it was our first time to get together for her birthday so she took me out one night and I took her out the next night.  Here we are at Babe's and they are singing to us with our chicken hats they put on us.  We each got one of the little dessert biscuits with a candle lit!  LoL - It was FUNNY!  We had to do the chicken dance while they were singing to us!  LoL!

Here we are after we got to take our chicken hats off!  :)

Mom owns a salon and is a barrel racer.
Here she is working on her girls, even me, blessing us!
Above is Madi Grace and below is Sarah Faith.

Below is Hannah Joy getting her hair trimmed.
(notice she has taken one sock and shoe off, LOL)

..then she rolled each girls hair for church the next morning.
(Hannah Joy ended up taking hers down, lil toot!)

Sarah Faith with smoochy lips-  she had on some lipstick.
............giggle and eyeroll......  LOL!  Cute, cute.

I love this picture of Madi Grace!

She fixed my hair up for us to go out for her dinner that night.
*Saturday night*  (she had cut my hair too!)  I love it!

Below:  Here we are together before we left to go to On the Border.  We are squatting down but we're the same height.
Madi Grace was a bit shorter than us so squatting down made it easier for her to be able to take a picture of the two of us.
She is soooooo beautiful!!!

A waiter that's really nice making guacamole (spell?) for us.

Madi Grace before church looking GORGEOUS!
Mom did her hair!

LiL Hannah Joy after GiGi (my mom) fixed her hair.

Sarah Faith looking beautiful after GiGi did her hair!!

Mom left right after church then my sweet hubby took us to Babe's.
Here Sarah Faith is doing the Hokey Pokey with the waitresses.
I was so proud she got up there and danced with them.
All 3 girls got stickers after Sarah Faith danced!
Smiles!

Guest Post from Mrs. Renee Stam @ The Growing Stam Family :)

I was having one of those days, the babe had been teething and did not sleep much and wanted to be rocked and nursed non stop, the middle child woke up grumpy and whiny for no apparent reason, and the oldest one decided that she couldn't do anything by herself and wanted to be near mama all the time!

I kept trying to keep the house in order, dishes, laundry, picking up the toys and tending our little ones needs trying to make them comfortable and happy.

The toddlers kept hitting each others buttons, every time the babe was almost asleep the oldest HAD to ask for milk, to have the potty light turn on even if the little stool to stand on for her to do it herself was in place, to fix her sock that were crocked on her feet, always ending up waking the almost sleeping baby and me needing to start the rocking/nursing all over again.

All day I was trying really hard to have a cheerful spirit, not to let them know that I was TIRED, that I didn't feel like serving them anymore.  That I wanted to be alone, and I kept feeling guilty for my selfish needs.

Around supper time, I felt drained, the house was still in a decent state, laundry and dishes were caught up and I made a huge pot of chili, knowing that the left overs come handy for the next day. I was alone again to serve supper to my crew, my dear husband was working late and I knew bed time was coming but was wondering if I would I have enough energy to do bath, pj's story and hugs and kisses.

I felt slightly overwhelm, a bit frustrated and trying my best not to get bitter. Looking down into my empty cup of water I taught "I have to get up again!"

I stood up with my cup in my hand, our oldest firmly told me:

" Sit down mama, Rebekah will do it"

She took a chair, brought it to the sink, fill my cup, brought the cup to me and left. Not waiting for a thank you, not waiting to be praised, she served me with a smile and ask nothing in return!

I thank God for this blessing, giving our little 3 1/2 years old such a great servant heart, while repenting of my shortcoming. With tears in my eyes I when to see her, give a big kiss and told her that I loved her.

"I  love you too Mama"

My bad day was all forgotten, it was now a clean slate, my energy was back and I knew It was going to be ok.

Little thing like homemaking can be a teachable moment both for kids and Mama's

Church was Amazing Today!

>> Sunday, November 21, 2010

We really love this church.  It's our 2nd to visit since we moved here but I think we are going to stay!  It's wonderful.  My hubby, the children and I all love it.  Today, my Mom visited with us there and she loved it also!  I also met a lady last week but didn't exchange numbers.  I was hoping and praying we'd see her and her family again.   We did.  We swapped numbers and after talking on the phone today we are getting together on Wednesday at our house.
I'm very excited about that - my first friend here!
Same for the girls!
God blesses us so much!  So much more than we ever deserve!
