Homeschool & New Routine

>> Monday, October 18, 2010

We are working on a new routine with homeschool being first priority  but not losing sight of the routine we've been on with the house.  (keeping it clean all the time)  Today we worked on a new routine mixed in with our schooling.  For example, we unloaded & reloaded the dishwasher right before we started school.  It took about 15 minutes but gave us a nice, head start!  They took a short break while I made lunch and I did a few things while they ate and then they started a load of towels after they ate.  They got a 5 minute longer break after eating and then we did some review of what we had done so far and went on.  After school we swept and mopped the kitchen, etc...   Today has been long because I had to get some more school supplies tonight which meant a trip to wal mart.  (ugh, I hate going there now!)  I have everything reviewed and ready for tomorrow but I have been going 90 to nothing with a few short breaks as they worked on worksheets after I taught them that subject where I could sit down and check some email and a couple blogs.  It's almost 11 PM and I want to change the cat box and head to bed.  I change it twice a week.. the day before trash day and the trash comes on Tues and Fri so I am getting it done tonight and ready to go out tomorrow.  Yawn.......it was a great day and as my Nanny would say, "a good tired."  Papers are graded and in their binders.  We're all set for tomorrow!  :)

Today we visited a church nearby...

>> Sunday, October 17, 2010

We really loved it!  It was small and the church family seemed so close and loving.  They were so welcoming to us.  So many people introduced themselves to us.  The pastor was great, the youth minister wonderful, everything was so nice.  There were several children and many things to get involved in.  The church is like one mile from our house and that is great too!  (esp. when Kenny is taking forever to get ready per usual!  lol)  We are going back on Wednesday so I can go to a book study and the girls can go to the childrens' program.  Hannah Joy will stay home with Daddy since we do not put her in the nursery.  (we won't do that until we're sure that's where we will stay because we do not want to upset her with different nurseries if we visit another church)  I really think we will end up staying there and if so she'll get acquainted to the children and the nursery.  She did fine at the church we went to in FL.  (oh how happy I am to be back in TX!!!!!!!)  We're having a Fall Festival with the church next Sunday at 5 and I'm already planning away to help with it.  They are also doing Operation Christmas Child (look it up!  it's awesome) at the ladies meetings twice a month on Monday nights.  Mom did that one year and the girls and I got to join in.  It was so wonderful to give that way!  Mom's boxes were so over stuffed! - typical mom - she's precious!  The girls also liked the church today.  We haven't been to a church like this one in years but well.... it sure seems right.  (it's Baptist by the way in case you are curious)  We were going to a baptist church back home but this one is... just... different than that one.  OK, I'm rambling but I'm really excited after today!  I hope to meet some homeschoolers there?  Maybe?  :)  Friends and Church Family will be wonderful to have again!!!!  Smiles!

Do you ever feel so alone?

>> Friday, October 15, 2010

Psalm 73:23a, "Yet I am always with you."
Sometimes we feel so alone.  We get busy with the mudane things of life and we just sometimes feel alone.  We can sometimes feel a void inside that we just want to fill up.  God's peace is the only thing that can fill that void.
In Psalm 73 we can see that God is ALWAYS with us.  What an amazing God.  Afterall, don't we all have a yearning for someone to love us unconditionally, someone to be with us at all times, someone to hear our hearts cry or rejoice with us?  We long to have someone to walk through life with us.. and He's RiGHT THERE ready and waiting.  All you have to do is ask.
He's been there all this time.  He's watched you struggle; He has watched you triumph.  He has longed to comfort you when you are sad.  He's a God who LOVES His people.
It's so simple.  Just ask.  Ask Him into your daily life.  Ask Him to walk with you, to guide you, to protect you.  Include Him in all things.  Watch how your life changes when you walk hand in hand with your loving Father.

Our Popaw, my Father in law....Hubby's Daddy...

Popaw is fighting stage 2 lymphoma and we would love it you would offer up prayers for him.  He is staying upbeat while having the worst chemo made.  We love him dearly and are trusting the Lord for a full recovery.  Please pray and trust God with us.  His name is Dwayne Little... or Dad... or Popaw...or trusted friend... hard worker and of course loving husband!  Here is a picture of him with Madi Grace and Sarah Faith from our most recent visit.

Mom came to visit me about 3 weeks ago, maybe a month.  I took her to Rainforest Cafe.  It is a place she had been wanting to go.  I was afraid it would disappoint her but she loved it!
While we were there I asked someone to snap a pic of us!  I'm so glad I did.  TOMORROW is MOM's Bday!!!!  So I had to share this!  She is such a blessing to me and the girls.  ;-)

Beautiful roses my husband sent me about 3 weeks ago.
I loved them so much that when they dried I moved them to the Victorian bathroom.  They look beautiful even dried.
I'll have to take a pic of them dried.
My hubby can be so thoughtful!

Turkies & Chores ;-)

>> Wednesday, October 13, 2010

I'm behind on posting and need to catch up.  My blog www.xanga.com/thankfulmommy has been giving me grief so I am transitioning over here!  :)

...OK... so onto the Turkies & Chores....
We have been working on a star reward chart for chores and homeschool done with a happy heart!

So, on this day, they were doing their first day of chores  and in the midst we did a turkey craft.  It was an awesome day!
..on with the pictures!  ;-)
hmm, why is my picture so small?
OK, well... here the girls are starting their turkey craft.
Look at the face Madi Grace is making, lol.
(and you can see Hannah Joy is a ham!)
Hannah Joy is working diligently here :)
(yes she has a diaper on...we're not trained yet)

Oh my angel, Madi Grace!  Love that smile!
Sarah Faith is figuring it all out..concentrating too much to pose with a smile.  Silly Sarah ;)
Pause.  This is what Madi Grace had done today.
The entire kitchen all by herself!
Way to go, baby!!!
And THIS is what Miss Sarah Faith had been doing.
Laundry.  Lots of it.  The washer has a see through lid, it's fun!
Ignore the water splashed on the lid making it hard to see!
Girlfriend, you did so good!!!!
Yes, they both had very happy hearts!  Mommy too!
..back to turkey land..
(they  were having fun!)  Now, they had finished!
Each girls' turkey was a bit different and I love them!
Good job girls!!!!!  (bear hug!)
I absolutely love how she decorated hers with markers when done!
SO CREATIVE  my girl!!!
A perfectly crooked hat and the little red thingy on his tummy!
You know what girl, you did good and you did it YOUR way!
Super Job Angel!  It's hard to see the turkey for the pretty blue eyes!  You did it perfectly as shown.  I love it!

OK, well I have just finished cooking dinner... spaghetti.
My hubby will be home soon and I want to straighten things a bit.
*hugs* to my girls and to all who read here!

Has anyone else done any turkey crafts yet?  Share!  Share!
