Don't worry about the little things!

Luke 10:41-42
"But the Lord said to her, "My dear  Martha, you are so upset over all these details!  There is really only one thing worth being concerned about.  Mary has discovered it---and I won't take it away from her."

So many times we find ourselves worry about all these little things and we let the things that truly matter fall to the wayside.

Mothers seem to have more to do and less time than anybody.  But in truth we all have the same twenty-four hours in a day.

How we will up those hours will make the difference in our day, and down the road, in our LIFE.

We have to figure out what is important.  One way to do that is to ask yourself a few questions:

1.  Does it have eternal blessing/ consequence?
2.  Will it matter tomorrow or in a week?
3.  What is it teaching my children?
4.  Am I just doing this robotically out of habit but there's no longer a real reason to do this.

OK so for some examples:

1.  Cooking?  Yes cooking has to be done.  It affects my family's health, nourishment and fills their hunger.  It gives them the things they need to be healthy.
2.  Bathing the baby/toddler?  Bathing our babies and toddlers daily is reported to cause dry skin and to agitate excema.  So, if your child isn't DIRTY then you don't have a reason to bathe that child right then.
(it can wisely wait until tomorrow!)
3.  Cleaning up kitchen/living area etc..  Of course those things have to be done but you can break things up where you clean certain areas each day.  Then, you can just straighten things up a bit on the days you are not cleaning that area.
4.  Bible reading time!  Definitely!  HUGE eternal benefit!!!  Your child is NEVER to young to start reading to.  If you read to them while they are very little they will always know what is expected of them during reading time.  (being sill, quiet, not grabbing the book)  For children 4 and over you can really have a great devotional time with them and ask questions.  When they are at an age they can read = LET THEM READ TO YOU!
This encourages them to seek God themselves - self propelled - it helps them practice their reading AND they are LEARNING ABOUT GOD!  An appropriate age level devotional book will be great at this time!

KEYS FOR KIDS is a great devotional.  You can go to their website and read it aloud, print it out OR listen to it there on their site.  It's ALL FREE! (http://www.cbhministries.org/kfk/home.php)
OR you could go in and sign up FOR FREE for them to mail you a FREE copy of the Keys for Kids.  It comes every other month and has the date for each daily devotional.  Great resource!

5.  Doing something for another family - something you consider very Godly such as baking them dinner in a time of need etc...  This one is harder to answer.  If there are others available to do this, you may want to let them volunteer.  You will have MANY YEARS to do this when your children are bigger.  If it is a family you are close to and need to do this for.. then by all means, go for it!  Is it something you could include the children in?  Maybe they could make a special card (even scribbles) for the family as you cook.  Then they feel like they were a part of this when you deliver the meal.

I could go on and on but you all know the answers.  Just ask yourself the questions and go from there.  You will be surprised how quickly it will free up your time and let you spend more time being who GOD created you to be.

Together, let's focus on those things that *really* matter!
Blessings!
